Family & Philosophy

HONOUR YOUR PURPOSE. CONTEMPLATE. ESCAPE AT OAKLANDS TODAY.

We Believe The Best Family Holidays Aren’t Planned – They Are Felt.

In a world that loves to schedule everything, we’re not very good at structure and rigidity. And that’s entirely the point.

Oaklands has been shaped by people who believe that the best things — the conversations, connections, and memories — are what really count, and those happen off the clock.

We are a working farm. The animals don’t take days off. The escarpment doesn’t soften its
edges for anyone, and that’s where the magic lies. There’s a realness here that the managed world cannot manufacture.

Bring your family. Let the children run wild. Eat something honest. Watch the sun go down over the Berg and simply be present in whatever shows up.

WHAT GUIDES US

The Four Pillars of Family at Oaklands

Togetherness Over Everything

The best table is the one where nobody wants to leave. At Oaklands, meals are unhurried and long — the way they should be.

Nature as the Classroom

You can't explain a Drakensberg sunrise. You have to be there. Children who spend time here come home different — quieter, more curious, more alive.

Experiences That Become Stories

The Table

Long lunches. Second helpings. The kind of meal that nobody wants to end because the conversation is too good.
